Sir John Clifford Mortimer (innate 21 April 1923) is an English barrister turned prolific writer and dramatist. His body of work includes concluded fifty books, plays, & scripts. The play, A Voyage Round My Father (1971) is autobiographical, recounting his experiences as a immature barrister & his relationship by using his unsighted father. He developed his career as a dramatist by rising early to write prior to attending court.
Mortimer's best known creation occurs as character known as Horace Rumpole, a barrister whose specialty is defending victims accused of crime around London's redoubtable hall of justice, a Old Bailey.
